Tonight while I was cooking dinner, Indy came into the kitchen and showed me this picture. Me: Oh, its beautiful!
Indy: Its for you.
Me: Thank you! (reaching for picture)
Indy: (pulling picture back) It costs $7.
Me: (pretending to hand her some money) Here ya go.
Indy: (still holding the picture back) No, Mom... Real money!
When did this happen?!?!!?

She probably listened to me!I (www.artcareerexperts.com)encourage all parents of children who like to draw to give them a small sketchpad and encourage them to draw one object a day-while eating, shopping, etc. That teaches them to work in public (a great ego booster) accept compliments and also build a body of work and improve theior skills...YES let them charge! That puts value on their work AND time-a must have skill for later use in life as an artist! Pay the money put have her open a savings account for it. WHat fabulous life lessons! Smart child you have!

One day after Kristen had been playing with an old adding machine from work - she left a "receipt" on our bed of what we owed her for letting us be her parents.
